I’ve always kinda wondered about the places I visit on a daily basis that aren’t really special, my dorm, the theory workroom in the physics building, the observatory control room. Like, because of the stuff I work with and the research projects I work on, what if that room becomes this place like “this was the place where ___ was discovered at 3am by a team of teenagers with radio telescopes” or “this is where some of the greatest scientists of the early 2000s set up their office” like what if we find something cool and then 30 years from now there’s gonna be pictures of us as kids with wild colored hair and bags under our eyes and empty pizza boxes in the background on the internet and people are gonna be like “those were the days where great things happened in that place” like, I think about that a lot.
