Sad update everyone, Tama recently passed away… An estimated 3,000 people, including railway officials, attended Tama the cat’s funeral on Sunday, days after she died of heart failure aged 16. [x]
For those who haven’t read articles about it, the local shrine elevated her to a god. She’s now the Eternal Stationmaster and patron god of the station.
ahhh gentle pure tama!! <333 for those down about tama’s passing, a good ending–the station has found a successor to her! another calico named nitama (literally TAMA TWO) who was irl buddies with tama off duty AND was a kitty receptionist while tama was around (yes there are RECEPTIONIST CATS at this train station bless it there is a full cat bureaucracy and job market). nitama is pretty chill about the hat and while not as serene as tama was, will undoubtedly come into it with age and experience.

Yes this could have to do with the fact that Freya the Norse Goddess of love, beauty and fertility drove a chariot pulled by cats.
So, if I ever get married, I fully expect a catmobile.
One of the other reasons why they gave cats to each other was for their valuable skills as mousers. Cats were able to control rodent populations around their properties.
Also, Norse myths are thought to have the earliest literary descriptions of the Norwegian Forest Cat. They were described as large, strong cats that drew Freya’s chariot and were so heavy that not even Thor, God of Thunder, could lift them from the floor. (Source)
They kinda live up to the legend, too. Your average Norwegian Forest Cat is twenty pounds of solid muscle, with claws large and strong enough to climb solid rock. They’ve been known to attack bears when defending their territory. And yet they’re one of the cuddliest breeds out there, particularly noted for being patient with small children.

-she actually let her owners touch her without feeding her. even queen fattyfats doesn’t let me touch her even if I’ve got a handful of food directly in front of her face. I doubt Hanako liked being pet much, but she still let them do it, which is pretty impressive.
-she recognized her owners’ faces and footsteps, and apparently would rush over when they called her name. once again, without food, although I can’t imagine that she wasn’t assuming it was food time.
-everyone who owned her was convinced that she’d die for them, and at least her last owner felt that it was a mutual thing.
-I cry about her a lot. she was just a good fish who loved people and I get very emotional ;_;

That sounds about right for Mythbusters.
- Blendo was put together before Mythbusters was a thing
- Blendo was so strong and dangerous (for throwing debris into the audience) that The Boys were asked to withdraw it in exchange for a co champion title
- they re-entered Blendo years later when the protective wall was much higher. It was once again asked to be withdrawn for a co champion title for the same reason.
