everyone loves to shit on david cage for making his games so heavily prompt based but let me tell you it’s the prompts specifically that elevate his work to the level of modern masterpieces

wheres the one where the player fails every prompt in a chase scene and it turns a dramatic pursuit into a mr bean movie
this the video you’re talking about?

The only other game that’s on par w/ this level of comedy is both Shenmue games.
To access Pinna Park in Super Mario Sunshine, Mario enters a cannon, which then shoots Mario to a different island in a cutscene. However, by rendering the scene as a wireframe, we can see that whatever is shot out of the cannon is not Mario, as he remains inside the cannon after it is fired.
Suppermariobroth I just want to say your expertise at subtley phrasing basic video game construction factoids as if something sinister is going on every time is acknowledged and appreciated
look how many fucking endings and routes this game had
this is also ignoring the true ending
is….is this the shadow the hedgehog story map
fun fact
in shadow the hedgehog, completing a playthrough unlocked a cutscene sequence of that playthrough in the extras menu
literally just the level cutscenes placed in the order that you just played
each sequence had its own name and all 300 of them needed to be unlocked to 100% the game
you literally with no exaggeration had to do 300 playthroughs of shadow the hedgehog to 100% it
what the fuck
It’s actually 326 playthroughs, and some of the titles read like b-sides from My Chemical Romance’s middle two records. Like. Seriously. Look at this shit:

I’m pretty sure Trent Reznor has a song titled after number 39, like come on.

For anyone needing titles for their angst fic, just consult this list. It’s probably got you covered. In fact, I propose we take this list and make a writing meme out of it. Can we? Can we make this a thing?
this post is old as fuck BUT i wanted to revisit it because guess what got posted to /r/speedrun today

The mental shift between realising this is animated.
there are so many things great about this aside from how hardcore this mosh pit is
- the shield that gets launched into the stratosphere as soon as the armies collide
- the guy on the left side who somehow manages to do a complete 180 in all of the mayhem and dives out of frame
-the guy on the right side who decides not to get involved and runs right past the camera
- the final dude who trips in the least natural way possible
I didn’t realise this was animated either, and thought holy shit those cosplayers are super dedicated to their craft
