one thing i will never make is a video on tumblr user zubat because… i don’t like the idea of using my audience to do a public callout of a single individual, principally. like with toby stuff it wasn’t tied to the dude’s real identity nor was it a callout but rather a fun look into online-only personas, whereas zubat’s real life name and career are way too tied to their tumblr bullshit for it to sit right. so it’s never going to happen. with that said, can you imagine what a fucking wild ride a hypothetical zubat video would be.
remember when they were like ‘i work at nasa, look at my badge and lanyard!’ and someone looked it up and it was a visitor badge for public nasa tours
i check up on alex zubat occasionally since they’re trying to let the world forget they capitalized on the death of a trans teenager to scam people out of tens of thousands of dollars and be an instagram influencer instead and i’m like 99% sure they’re buying bot followers- all the comments on every single picture of theirs are identical strings of emojis
so i checked one of those instagram influencer auditor apps and they estimate only about 65% of their followers are actual people and the rest are likely bots
i dunno, this is someone who’s used their public appearance to build a platform to harm people with for years (and it used to work!!!) so there’s something kind of poetic about watching them spend loads of money to cultivate a depressing facsimile of a fandom that contains very few real-life humans. i hope they blow all their scam money on fake followers lol
anyway remember when they made a tradwife sockpuppet called ‘ann montenegro’ but forgot to change their url? iconic
off topic but i love how that chart implies that influencers aren’t real people
theyre not
