during the first Gulf War, and he helped me understand that there really wasn’t much we could do about it or about the American Civil Liberties Union. So he and I ended up joining forces and ended up getting engaged and working with civil rights groups to help us understand something that was so incredibly important to these folks. But I wasn’t going to do anything to change our approach or our mindset. In fact, I wasn’t going to let anybody else do it.
