Studying astro, of the 12 or so people I knew in the department, 2 were trans. However, EVERY SINGLE PERSON I studied with were queer and 100% down with trans folk. My old roommate is transitioning rn and they get so much support from my old classmates 💜💜
You’ll find amongst young academics, if you haven’t yet, that there’s a lot of queer folk. While in university I can recall having only one friend amongst my group that was het, and even then they were bi-curious lol
You’re not alone and if you think you are, there are so many groups in uni that are there to support you
