A little detail on Percy that I didn’t see until just now… A little family portrait! Sojourner, Spirit, Opportunity, Curiosity, and Perseverance, all in a cute little graphical representation right on Percy’s back.

The soil testing equipment on Curiosity makes a buzzing noise and the pitch of the noise changes depending on what part of an experiment Curiosity is performing, this is the way Curiosity sings to itself.
So some of the finest minds currently alive decided to take incredibly expensive important scientific equipment and mess with it until they worked out how to move in just the right way to sing Happy Birthday, then someone made a cake on Curiosity’s birthday and took it into Mission control so that a room full of brilliant scientists and engineers could throw a birthday party for a non-autonomous robot 225 million kilometres away and listen to it sing the first ever song sung on Mars*, which was Happy Birthday.
This isn’t a sad story, this a happy story about the ridiculousness of humans and the way we love things. We built a little robot and called it Curiosity and flung it into the star to go and explore places we can’t get to because it’s name is in our nature and then just because we could, we taught it how to sing.
That’s not sad, that’s awesome.
*this is different from the first song ever played on mars (Reach For The Stars by Will.I.Am) which happened the year before, singing is different from playing

It is very difficult and arduous. It’s worth it in the end but - and I hate to say this and I don’t want to make it seem like other majors are ‘easy’ - but it takes a special kind of perseverance to push through your coursework. However, it was 100% worth it for me

The Flint water crisis has left most of Flint’s residents having to drink bottled water and as you can imagine, that’s a lot of plastic bottles laying around and tbh I kinda want to see some of them donated and made into a symbol of our perseverance like an art piece or something

Just out of curiosity did you consult a physician on the physiological changes or damage to your theoretical victim of the blackhole? This is mainly just out of curiosity cause I've been thinking about the effects ever since and see it as a interesting question cause I really like both physics and medicine. basically we confirmed that he survived with minimal spaghettification from the black hole.
Considering what spaghettification would do to a body, you could expect major joint pain and arthritis from the experience, as well as weakened muscles and a weakened circulatory system which would lead to high blood pressure as well as heart failure as time progressed
I’m mashing my physics knowledge along with whatever spare info my parents have dropped as nurses into this scenario so I could be wrong here.
