“If Elon Musk has his way, the effects on Twitter of his buying up the social media platform will end up being the least of our problems. To get a sense of how bad this could get, it’s instructive to look at the parallels between Musk’s Twitter acquisition and the creation of Fox News. When Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch started Fox News in the late 1990s, they envisioned the channel as a counterbalance to the rest of the supposedly liberal media, a cudgel to deploy against the news media to get coverage for manufactured controversies and right-wing misinformation. Musk views Twitter in much the same way that Murdoch and Ailes saw Fox at its inception. To Musk, social media companies haven’t just gone too far in addressing extremism, bigotry, and disinformation – they shouldn’t be addressing these issues at all. Musk’s vision of Twitter isn’t simply as a platform free from constraints, but as an instrument to counterbalance the “woke” social networks. As Twitter’s new owner, Musk will open the floodgates of hate and lies by undoing a host of very basic protections against harassment, abuse, and disinformation. There is a reason why banned users—ranging from Roger Stone and Marjorie Taylor Greene to QAnon and Infowars conspiracy theorists to white supremacists—are all celebrating this acquisition and gleefully anticipating the restoration of their accounts.”

Elon Musk Will Use Twitter to Update Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News Playbook
The second this purchase is finalized, every fascist in the world will be handed a megaphone so loud and unaccountable, they will use it to drown out every voice that isn’t their own.
This is a DISASTER for marginalized people, and a deadly weapon for autocrats.
Trump’s ‘Fight!’ Tweet Is Our Call to End Mexican Scapegoating
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump went on Twitter this morning to incite violence against Mexicans. “I love the Mexican people, but Mexico is not our friend. They’re killing us at the border and they’re killing us on jobs and trade. FIGHT!”, Trump tweeted.
Calling on his Twitter followers to “FIGHT!” Mexicans marks a new low for the belligerent Trump. In doing so, he uses the threat of violence in an attempt to quell criticism and, we feel, as retaliation in response to the backlash he’s received over his original anti-Mexican comments made almost two weeks ago in announcing his candidacy.
Such hate speech leads to violence and death, as we’ve seen one too many times in our community.
Shown above are:
Brisenia Flores, 9, shot and killed by Minute Men in their Arizona home in May 2009. Her father Raúl was also killed. Her mother was shot, but survived.
Juan Varela, shot and killed in May 2010 days after SB1070 was passed in Arizona by a neighbor who yelled, “You fucking Mexican, go back to Mexico!” Varela’s family has lived in Arizona since before 1848 when it was still a part of Mexico.
Luis Ramírez, beaten to death by 4 teenagers in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, in July 2008. “Tell your Mexican friends to get the fuck out of Shenandoah,” one of Ramírez’s assailants yelled at him before he was attacked.
10 anti-Mexican hate crimes were reported in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Staten Island, New York, in 2010. The victims were typically men on their way home from work. Almost all of the assailants were young black men.
Anti-Mexican hate speech can’t go unchallenged. The scapegoating of Mexicans ends today!
This is very sad, I am Mexican, and it saddens me that this happening. I respect Americans because I’ve met that they are warm, sweet and kind people. people like Mr. Trump make you look bad to thousands of Americans who are not. In addition, Trump is not only calling for “fight” against Mexicans, what He is doing (and sadly making) is separated thousands of families, friends and good people who can make America a better country. I sincerely hope that Trump does not win the election because it will be the end of a great nation.
I’m no good in English, but I really hope can tell all right.
Donald Trump had a meltdown on Twitter last night after Jill Stein confirmed that she’s pursuing a recount
Trump went on to tweet a statement attributed to Hillary Clinton during the presidential debates that disavowed a recount, decrying the “time and money” that will be spent on this only to achieve the “same result.” (Read More)
“Donald Trump fails to grasp basic climate change facts”
Is a headline that is both extremely accurate AND also remains extremely accurate if you take the words “Climate Change” out of it as well
“The ice caps were going to melt, they were going to be gone by now, but now they’re setting records. They’re at a record level,” Mr Trump continued.
As for polar ice levels, data shows that they are indeed – as Mr Trump stated – at “a record level”, although not the level he had in mind. Last year Nasa reported record lows in sea ice extent in both the Arctic and the Antarctic.
Yep, sounds about right.
“They’re at a record level!”
“Yes and that’s BAD”
“But..they’re at a record level”
“Yes, the lowest on record”
“Record…level….”
America would be better off if it had elected a five year old ._;
This is actually something that make me uncomfortable about GT. I enjoy a lot of her social media presence, but doing a search of your name or your husband's name just to call out a thirst post, it makes me uncomfortable.
SAME.
I mean, obviously this is my interpretation of things, but there always seems to be something a bit needy and insecure about it, as if she's trying to reassert some sort of 'possessiveness' over David or whatever. Which, I personally find odd, as – while David has a private life – he's also a public figure and an attractive one at that, so people are going want him, be attracted to him, and talk about that on social media…and it's usually just pretty harmless. And yes, while such attention might embarrass David (and maybe even Georgia) at times, ultimately he knows the drill – I mean, he had naughty posters of Madonna up on his wall as a teen, so he's totally been on the other side of that.
As for Georgia, sometimes to me it's almost like she wants some of that attention he's always getting at times, like she needs to prove she's just as 'important' or 'relevant'. Or maybe she's even a bit threatened by it? I don't know. Some of its playful trolling, yes, but some of it leaves me wondering about her jealousy and insecurities. Because I mean, again, David is a hot public property (with the emphasis on hot for many of us), so it comes with the job. So, I don't want to say 'Get over it'…but I also kinda do?
Let the fans have their thirst posts – they're not going to have any effect on your private relationship with David (unless you point them out to him, of course – because we all know how much of a luddite he is about social media – but even there, they likely won't even blip on his radar). Again, it's all harmless.
Plus, I don't know, as a poly person myself, I seriously never have issue when people say my partner is hot, because hell yes, they are -- they are awesome – why do you think I love them so much? Just because you find your partner hot, doesn’t mean other people will stop finding them hot too – life doesn't work like that. SO, REVEL IN THAT. You snagged an awesome guy – of course people are going to notice him too!
Now, do I personally feel threatened my own partner might leave me for someone else attracted to them in such a situation? Ultimately not really, as I generally think a break up would either be a) for good reasons or b) for bad ones -- where in that case, I probably shouldn't be with them in the first place if they’re going to toss a 15-year relationship in the toilet for a shag. *shrug*
But seriously though, from what I can see of the David/Georgia relationship (which is honestly not The Whole Story, obvs), I doubt David is going anywhere anytime soon. He's totally devoted to her and his children and this is the life he always said he wanted.
So, she can totally chill. She's got nothing to prove.
P.S. This is not to say I don't like Georgia. I actually mostly find her social media and entertaining, if not a bit 'mean girl' at times. I wouldn't say I 'stan' her like a lot of fans, but she seems mostly pretty cool and she makes David happy and that makes me happy (because, in my mind, that boy deserves the freaking world!). But, at the end of the day, and maybe it's because I'm 47 (yes, I'm that old), there are also definitely times where she comes off a bit immaturely (such as the recent bullying of that fan alongside Michael Sheen) and because of her 'power position', it does make me uncomfortable when it happens – especially when it's targeting fans. (Basically: Georgia, please stop searching your name and your husband's name all the time if only to use it to shame fans making posts about you/him – it's not the best look).
you guys are so fucking annoying
hot public property?!
Don't use Facebook (including Instagram and WhatsApp), Twitter, TikTok, Tumblr, really any social media app or messenger, forum, or even Discord if you are seeking an abortion. Only use things like Signal (assuming it's still safe) that are heavily point-to-point encrypted.
Tech corporations aren't your friends, they will rat you out to fascists.

- The suicide rate for people aged 10 to 24 increased by 56% between 2007 to 2017, according to new data from the CDC.
- For children aged 10 to 14, the suicide rate tripled between 2007 to 2017 after years of decline.
- Suicide had increased among millennials, but the data suggests Gen Z might be most at risk for mental illness.
Considering the number of death threats people give to each other because of fandom, shipping wars, and censorship, and the amount of cyber bullying that comes out of that, yes - that can play a large factor in suicide of people who are in fandoms.
Climate disasters are incoming/already happening, Cold War II is on the horizon, white nationalism is on the rise, advanced capitalism is collapsing in on itself, and the world is otherwise on fire but sure, it’s the fucking “shipping wars” that are driving the kids to suicide
I try to be nice, but someone’s gotta tell you to get a fucking grip. So. Get a fucking grip and move on from the 2007 livejournal comm mindset or whatever it is that’s got your brain rotting from the inside out.
SHIPPING WARS
