@kaijuno tagging u so u can reblog for anon, wasnt sure if it’d be seen in replies–
make sure his heart rate stays low, which may mean physically checking it urself if he is unable to correctly assess his own HR (you should double check anyway).
why? because if he is on anti-depressants, mood stabilizers, anti-psychotics, or anything that affects serotonin or dopamine levels, an elevated heart rate can indicate possible serontonin toxicity, which can be life-threatening.
an elevated HR may just mean he is anxious, and unless accompanied by pain, a stable, unchanging resting HR of even up to 120 is probably just stress related and he’s still ok, tho he should be monitored.
but if his HR starts increasing, and especially if he’s hitting 200+ beats per min or having chest pain, get him to the ER immediately, as serotonin toxicity can actually lead to cardiac arrest in patients showing cardiac distress.
any other signs– sudden loss of consciousness, irregular HR, seizures–should also obviously warrant a trip to the hospital.
be very forward about his use of marijuana at the ER, as that is vital information for any emergency health provider; it will influence any drugs they may give him, and help them in their diagnosis of his symptoms. knowledge of all drugs taken–legal or otherwise–is medically necessary for healthcare personnell and first responders, and can save lives.
