I really wish I could draw my own cityscapes, but alas, I am no artist. Instead I have to comb the internet, searching for “close enough.”

Maybe someday I’ll have the disposable income to commission artists to draw pieces that are intentionally solarpunk….. Someday….

It was barely visible unless you were in the north east US/Canada (or the Arctic circle I guess) so most ppl only saw a sliver of it as the sun was rising

Okay two things

1) every time I see something like this, or photos of wild unrealistic landscapes that really exist, or spectacular architecture, whatever it is, I think again that when we write fantasy, we NERF REALITY. That is, here’s some dude with a special interest and a brain that somehow lacks basic self preservation mechanisms, and he’s out here looking like a super hero. Regular humans are capable of things we seem super human. Real landscapes are more fantastical than our fantasies. Reality is more fantastical than our fantasies.

2) how the fuck did he not kick out any windows that’s the most impressive part of the whole video.

So as someone who used to teach parkour back in the day, this dude isn’t just talented. His technique is amazing.

It’s not just about not kicking out windows. Controlling how you land is about shock absorption, about minimizing the strain on your joints. It also makes you quieter when you move. A good landing should be as silent as possible, because loud landings hurt. That’s the foundation of everything else you do in parkour. So by the time you’re climbing buildings, if you’re breaking windows it means you don’t have enough control to land safely and it’s time to go back to your ground basics.

The ‘Vertical City’ project features a futuristic-looking tower, which would be population-dense yet still feel spacious, holding 25,000 people at any given time.

Unlike traditional skyscrapers, which are self-contained and shut off from the natural environment, the 180-floor building would allow the outside world to become an intrinsic part of the interior.

The bold project was overseen by Luca Curci, an architect based in Bari, Italy.

He said: ‘We wanted to introduce a new approach to the architecture of contemporary cities - the idea behind the project is that the tower can be built anywhere.’

‘Residents get into an healthier lifestyle, in connection with natural elements, and re-think the traditional concept of community and society.’  

A semi-submersed bridge would also allow pedestrians, cars and public transport to reach the water-based city while a heliport would connect with the upper garden-square.
