My friend Karinya has been living with a rare form of cancer called Paraganglioma. She bought tickets to see Florence and the Machine play in Austin months ago and has been so excited to go, but was not able to since she is bedridden in a hospice care facility. A lot of people work all their lives , but somehow these families managed to maintain an absurd amount of wealth while tge vast majority of others didnt get even close to that kind of power
And why is that their fault? Because they’re smart and know how to handle wealth? They are fortunate yes, but the poverty of others is not the burden of the rich, they didn’t make people poor. This is coming from a working class man whom is constantly worrying about money and making ends meet.

This is from the forecast discussion of Major Hurricane Florence from this afternoon. As a meteorologist, when I saw this, my heart sank. They don’t use wording like this for every storm.
Florence is going to be a devastating. There will be huge amounts of flooding, both from inland rain and from costal storm surge. Winds are going to be some of the strongest you can get from a hurricane. People within the path of this storm could lose everything.
