Another thing that super pissed me off in treatment was that my roommate for detox and residential was a blind woman so even though I’m out here feeling like dogshit I help her out because that’s just what you do, y'know? I be her seeing eye person or whatever. I assumed that once we were in residential she’d get help from like, staff members to get where she needed to go and stuff because I’m trying to do me and like recover but the staff saw that and was like “oh good you can do everything for her and yourself” and so I had to do all her fucking legal paperwork?? I mean like someone had help her but they couldn’t have gotten a counselor?? and one of the big pillars they teach you in residential is to know your boundaries and when to stand up for yourself which APPARENTLY didn’t apply to standing up to staff because they tried to make me fill out like 30 pages of all her medical history and while it’s not specifically a HIPAA violation if she were to willingly tell me, I sure as hell didn’t feel comfortable doing it. Then when I told a staff member that they had to get like a nurse or her counselor to help her they were all trying to guilt me about it like I was the asshole for not wanting to skip out on my own group therapy and sit there and ask this woman I DON’T KNOW if she’d had unprotected sex in the last 30 days or when her last colonoscopy was and what the fuck ever
