In mid-to-late 2017 I was eyeing books in my local library about topics like recognizing early signs of fascism, what to do when it’s confirmed, how to fight back, etc. But I was in over my head with book reviews for that entire semester I couldn’t add any more reading materials to my load. Today I went in and apparently those books just... never existed?? Their place cards were removed, they were removed, and apparently they were never in the system and “aren’t part of the library’s collective”

New hobby: wearing cute dresses and makeup and being all girly and then going to the library to return and check out a bunch of astrophysics, quantum mechanics, and modern physics books and watching the look on the face of the deskie as they get totally taken off guard by my book choices

they do this so that they can prove people use the library, figure out what books are popular so they can make sure to get more like it or further entries in a series, and to figure out what times the library is more buisy

while ive never killed a person in a library (yet) i do sometimes unshelve additional books to boost the statistics thus resulting in increased funding for the library, however small

Library of Blabber is an odd little experience that in which you search for any form of sense in an infinite library, filled with an infinite amount of randomly generated books (mostly) filled with gibberish.

Inspired by Jorge Luis Borges’ story The Library of Babel, and Jonathan Basile’s libraryofbabel.info project, the chances of you ever finding anything resembling a sentence, let alone a readable book are ridiculously small.

However, there’s always a chance – after-all, much like the logic of the Infinite Monkey Theorem, an infinite library must contain every book that can, and will ever exist. So everything from the complete works of shakespeare to that homework essay you wrote when you were 12 is in there somewhere among the infinite nonsense. Unfortunately you’d probably need an infinite amount of people or an infinite amount of time to find anything meaningful, but you can always try!

I like Isaac Asimov a lot. As for science books like you’re describing, just about any Sagan and Hawking book will do. All of the other books I can think of off the top of my head are college textbooks that cost an arm and a leg
