Whoops I slipped and joined a band

Old ppl love to complain about how all music these days “sounds the same” but have you listened to 70s rock? it’s all over the god damn place a single BAND couldn’t stick to the same genre for an album they were all over the place half the songs would be rock and half would be thinly veiled slow ballads and then there was whatever the fuck Pink Floyd was doing. 60s-70s white people rock was a mess. Chaotic Bad.

My dad made a VHS of music I would dance to as an infant and it eventually grew from 3 songs to this, now made into a playlist.

Do you ever just band hop like you go from this band you listen to and then listen to some other similar band and then you go to a band similar to them and then you just go from band to band listening to good music and the next thing you know you’re neck deep in some obscure ass genre like europop electrofunk or Israeli glitchhouse or symphonic electro or like Japanese future funk

In 1985, after concern about the effect of music on children, a group of four women including Tipper Gore formed the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC). The group pushed for a voluntary ratings system for the music industry similar to the movie industry and released a list of songs they found objectionable that was dubbed the “Filthy Fifteen.” One of the songs on the list was Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” while tracks by Judas Priest, Motley Crue, AC/DC, Black Sabbath and Venom also found themselves under scrutiny.

A Senate hearing was held on Sept. 15, 1985 to discuss placing a rating system into effect. At the hearing, representatives of the PMRC testified along with Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider, Frank Zappa and John Denver.
