Okay, so, around twenty years ago, I designed this character.

And I colored him a teal green, because I just thought it looked cool. But since then, I’ve had to answer this question a lot:
“So why is he green?”
“I just thought it looked cool.”
“You know, platypuses aren’t green.”
“And kids’ heads aren’t triangles. What… what’s your point?”
But guess what just happened? This is a real thing that just happened.

They just discovered that platypuses have a special kind of bioluminescence and in ultraviolet light they glow green.
I called it! I called it!

Tuca & Bertie is the sort of adult cartoon that feels like it’s like other cartoons… except it’s better. I can make a whole list but I’ll just note here that it’s got that Bro feel minus misogyny and their Adult content isn’t raunchy.
I say that having watched BoJack Horseman. The difference is that BoJack is about mental health and cultural critique whereas Tuca & Bertie is about friendship and adulting. The former is cynical, the latter is indulgent. Both have merit. I just want more indulgence.
I will be as obnoxious as I need to be in order for more people to try this show because it’s so diverse and brilliantly written. We need more adult cartoons like Tuca & Bertie.
There’s like a 65% chance that Walt Disney has busted a nut at Disneyland.

I found this buried in the stacks at a local Disney collectibles store. It’s the “year book” of sorts given out to the production crew of “Mulan” after the film wrapped. Mulan was the first feature film completed entirely at the Florida Disney Animation Studio at Disney-MGM Studios.
It’s a great little book, filled with lots of photos of animators and producers I recognize, and even more photos of people I don’t. But every one of them helped contribute to one of my favorite animated movies.
It also has lots of great little joke sketches in it. I especially like the “girl scouts” one which, while not credited, is obviously by Chris Sanders.
Definitely here for Shang’s secret night job.
