The very first time I took sleeping aids to try and knock myself out after a severe bout of insomnia (never happened again, and those meds never helped again either, sadly). I remember starting to feel a bit loopy, went on to perch on the very side of my bed (best described as "owling", which was a short fad back in 2011) and stared straight at a wall for 45min, then decided it was the best time, condition and position to cut my toenails. Later I hid under my blanket, sent a rambling text to my best friend, the only legible thing being me explaining that I couldn't text her (which I was doing) because I was "having a delicious taste of freedom, and tiny circus acrobats were climbing all over my phone". I wrote myself several notes contain single words ("fridge", "CAT", "dissonanannce" are the ones I remember) underlined 3 times. Then I conked out for 5 hours.
