my car was stolen from a university parking lot when i lost my keys and i reported it to campus police. weeks passed. it was a shit car that overheated and broke down constantly so whoever stole it just dumped it in the backyard of an empty house. the owner of the house had come back to check on his property and reported it as a "suspicious vehicle" to the city police. i dont think the cops did any investigation at all. cops towed and impounded my car, THEN called me to tell me it was found, meaning i had to pay hundreds of dollars in tow fees to get MY CAR that was STOLEN off the lot. the thief left evidence in the car when they dumped it, including a pair of glasses, but the cops weren't interested and the thief was never found. learned my lesson and never called the cops for anything again
