theres been exactly one instance in the lives of anyone i know where the presence of a cop has been useful, it was when i was working at a movie theater when joker was coming out and there was all that press about how it could inspire another movie theater shooter, so every theater had a cop stationed there for opening weekend. there obviously was no shooter so none of those cops had anything to do. my coworker used the opportunity to break up with her abusive boyfriend of 7+ years and told the GM to tell the cop so if he tried to show up at her work, there would be a cop there to get him to fuck off. and he DID show up and have to be kicked out by the cop. but all of us including her know that no police would have showed up to protect her if it wasn't joker opening weekend and he had to.
Jesus that’s horrible but at least a cop was there I guess
