Not a cop but similar: i often ride to and from school on the tram, and my family often doesn’t have money for stretches of time. one night i arrived at my station to find them monitoring the paying machines. my tram card declined for the first time that day, i hadn’t realised it had run out. i’m a minor and i was alone with no money on me, and my mum was on her way to pick me up. the station guard stopped me and said i was getting a formal warning for fare evasion, even though when my mum arrived she put money on my card and it paid for the trip. he wouldn’t listen to a single thing i said and i was almost in tears by the end
