I know y’all hate me taking this so seriously but I remember this and lost family in this and it means something to me.
1. The North Tower Lobby after the South Tower collapsed
2. Man contemplating amongst the rubble
3. Firefighter using a thermal camera to look for survivors
4. Helicopter view of Ground Zero
5. Rescue dogs were finding so few living survivors, they would become noticeably depressed, thinking they weren’t doing a good job. Handlers would hide in the rubble to allow the dogs to “find” them, boosting their spirit and morale.
this tumblr post plus thing is really interesting to me because it's such a mess. tumblr hasn't done an official announcement on their blogs (as of me typing this at least) but did an article with theverge.com with this graphic that i reversed image search and could only find it on that article, and another website reporting about that article, so i'm assuming tumblr provided them with it. interesting way to announce this.
the way they present this is like an alternative to patreon, which is interesting seeing as tumblr scared a lot of artists and sex workers off the site with the NSFW ban and during the training of the automatic filter being really aggressive initially, even many non NSFW artists jumped ship. if this shipped 4~ years ago i could see this actually being used like patreon for people who started out and built their brand on tumblr. but, well, it's way too late and since tumblr is really inconsistent with its moderation of nsfw content it's not going to attract nsfw artists or sex workers, and at that point you would just use patreon anyway.
the 5% fee that tumblr takes is a reasonable cut, but the 30% cut from people who subscribe on mobile is insane for a subscription service, how clear will it be that a subscription from a mobile user would be less than a subscription from a pc user? how many mobile only users are there, how many use both? if the majority of app users are only using tumblr on mobile then it's still money from users who wouldn't be able to pay otherwise, but i am certain many tumblr users who use the pc version also use the app, and i wonder how much money would be lost to the app stores from an honest mistake of people using the app instead of the pc version.
i think many of us are expecting this to fail anyway so the previous point is moot, a few companies have failed to make tumblr profitable, and activity is very clearly on the decline. it makes sense that tumblr is less active now than this time last year considering lockdowns last year, but it's interesting to see how much it's declined since 2012 but it should be obvious just looking at note counts of popular posts over the years. also interesting little fact, a little under half the users so 40%-50% of users are gen z. i imagine many are people who were here during the peak of tumblr's popularity.

Just so it's clear, the 30% cut from subscriptions purchased on the mobile app is taken by Apple or Android due to their ToS regarding in-app purchases. I should have explicitly mentioned that in the original post.

Seriously? I mean stream is already super saturated in sub-par comedy zombie games. Besides being an Idea from tumblr how will it stand out from the crowd?
I’m glad you asked, @nuclearwargames (Although I am a little disappointed that your name does not contain the words dildo or butt, it would have been funnier).
One, I’m with you on the excess of crappy zombie games. We don’t need more. And this idea from Tumblr deserves to stand out. So we’re avoiding cliche mechanics like magical death chainsaws, waves of easily slaughtered zombies, and buckets of gore to hide crummy art. In Aberford, you have no real combat training and you’re fighting enemies that are bigger and stronger. You’ll have to earn each kill with cunning and agility.
Two, part of standing out is the story. We’ve written a very involved, deeply human, socially relevant story for this game, and everything is getting built around that, rather than slapping a half-baked story into a cool concept. We’re exploring the tragedies and injustices in the lives of these 50′s housewives, and zombies are merely the catalyst. We want you to have a lot of fun, but we also want you to leave this game feeling haunted.
Three, rather than trying to make an indie game that’s clearly an indie game, we’re trying to make one that has the look and polish of a big studio release, which is why we’ll be running are very aggressive Kickstarter. With proper upfront funding, we can give the game the refined, stylish look it deserves and get it finished before the tools we’re using start to look dated.
Hopefully, that makes you feel better, and as we reveal more game content, you’ll see what an amazing project we expect this to be

…some trans men can get pregnant completely naturally and there is nothing cruel about that if they wanted it. but i assume that you mean especially cis men. they cannot get pregnant, they have to get someone with uterus to carry the child.

The question you have to ask yourself is this:
What happened, deep in the hidden eras before history began, that could effect the entire human race so evenly as to give the entire species a deep, instinctual, and lasting fear of pale beings with dark, sunken eyes, razor sharp teeth, and elongated faces?
Pale skin and sunken eyes are synonymous with illness and death. You instinctively fear people who are ill or dead, as to not catch an illness yourself. As for sharp teeth and elongated faces: characteristics of predators. Sharp teeth means carnivorous. Long face (with front facing eyes) means good depth perception for hunting. The pale skin, sunken eyes, sharp teeth, and long face trope is a combination of those instinctual fears, producing a stronger fear/reaction.

Listen kid. I’ve been on this site for years. I know exactly what they’re playing at here with the “this post is only for trans women” bullshit. Posts like that get thousands of notes but there’s no support for trans men. I’ve seen this happening for years. People on this site treat trans men like shit.
