So before we got the credit on our bills, my water bill (and my neighbors in this area) has a waterbill of around 110-125 dollars a month. Then we got the 60% credit (as in we only pay 40%)
Guess how much my water bill is
110-125 dollars a month. They raised the prices so much there’s literally no difference.
Oh, except now my dad has chemically induced eczema on his hand which the dermatologist isn’t legally allowed to say was caused by the water but did mention they have never seen it before and now they have over a dozen patients with it.
And every month I get a bill, but not the normal water bill. It comes in a letter. The letter is stuffed in this envelope with the bill, folded to fit. And the letter?
It’s essentially an extortion letter. It says pay the water bill or the credit will be revoked from your account permanently. Mind you, I get my bill like this when I’m not late in paying. That’s how it comes. Pay your bill or you might over hundreds or thousands in revoked credit and we’ll start shutting off water.
It’s nice (//sarcasm) to hear every now and then, “Oh but I care about Flint!” and then for it to disappear into obscurity again, or to talk with people who don’t live in Flint and have them correct me on the crisis. It’s still going on. The people of Flint, for the most part, know who is to blame. The court systems don’t seem to, and we get talked over about it. Oh, that isn’t how emergency managers work, the governor had nothing to do with the decisions, blah blah blah.
Try talking to someone from Flint and, crazy concept, believing them when it comes to what’s going on.
