Like oh, you’re upset about a meme? That’s cool. Maybe tell your fellow cishets to stop killing trans people while you’re over there complaining to them about it
then why is it ok for trans people to make jokes or memes about cis people but its not ok for cis people to make jokes/memes about trans people
Because you’re not oppressed. You don’t have to worry about getting killed for being trans. You wont be denied a job or get beat up in the fucking bathroom. Your parents wont kick you out of the house for being trans. Your parents wont make you go to conversion therapy or abuse you for being trans.
And they get this one thing, right? They get this safe space on the internet where they can vent and be themselves and make jokes. ONE FUCKING THING.
But nooooooooo they ain’t allowed to have fuckin jokes because it hurts yalls feelings

In my experience, about 90% of the STEM folk I worked with were lgbtq+ people themselves, and were obviously very supportive of their trans coworkers/students.

On a serious note though, I think cis people get so upset about jokes made at their expense or anger directed at them as a whole because they just don’t understand the extent of their privileges that they have over trans people in their daily lives.
I don’t think cis people understand that a couple of jokes made at their expense, or the anger at them, will never even come close to the years of violence, murder, and oppression trans people have been through, all at the hands of cis people.
And there’s something else that gets me. If you look at other cases that have the same majority-minority situation as trans and cis people do on this website, you’ll see this kind of thing all the time, with little to no outrage.
You see a person of color make a post saying “why are white people so horrible?” and you don’t get white people complaining about it. Because white people (most of them) understand that jokes made at their expense will never compare to the damage they’ve done.
You see a woman make a post saying “why are men so horrible?” and, well, some men complain about it, but other men and women usually shut them down very quickly. Because men (most of them) understand that jokes made at their expense will never compare to the damage they’ve done.
You
see a queer person make a post saying
“why are straight people so horrible?” and you don’t get straight people complaining about it. Because straight people (again, most of them) understand that jokes made at their expense will never compare to the damage they’ve done.
So why aren’t trans people allowed to be angry? Why aren’t they allowed to make jokes at our expense, huh? Why is it that only in the context of trans v cis people on this website do we hear “don’t fight fire with fire!” Why do cis people get so upset about this, but not the others? Why is this such a hot button topic, but the others are not?
Support all trans women. Support trans women who wear no makeup. Trans women who cover our faces in it. Trans women who don’t pass as cisgender. Trans lesbians. Butch trans women. Trans women you aren’t attracted to. Trans women who have beards. Trans women who wear clothes designed for men. Trans women who aren’t out yet. Trans women who are still figuring it out. well, no, don’t support all trans women. for example, the op of this post is a literal rapist. she does not deserve anyone’s support.
not only has she avoided accountability, but multiple trans people have come forward about her sexually abusing them, and sometimes abusing them in other ways. she’s threatened her victim into silence and tried to play off any mention of what she’s done as transmisogyny. eli erlick is her name and she’s been using her positions of power in trans spaces to her advantage.
if that isn’t enough for people to not support her (which it should be), she also identifies as a “dyke” (anti-lesbian slur) and “butch” (lesbian-specific identity) both while not being a lesbian. her victim who has come forward has also experienced ableism from eli.
so basically, she’s a rapist, abuser, ableist, and lesbophobic. she also has been trying to turn the tables on her victim, pretending like her abuse wasn’t abuse because her victim consented on other occasions.
