Pain will definitely differ depending on whether it's a copper IUD or a hormonal one, and will also differ regarding what impact it has on menstruation! A copper IUD is more likely to increase cramping and blood, while a hormonal IUD is more likely to make them lighter. Whichever one you get, you should probably be aware that until it gets fully settled into your body, you'll probably feel it during sex. It shouldn't last too long, and you can use toys to help speed up the process.
