Hey, I don't know if you know this, but many hospitals and ambulance services have financial aid for people who can't afford it. I ended up in the ER several years ago while I was unemployed. I was able to get the bills dramatically reduced, including the ambulance bill. If you haven't already done this, try calling the ambulance billing department and ask if they offer financial assistance? It's a bit of paperwork to get it but it's not too terrible, and it really saved me so much money.
Oh I already have called them and had my hospital bills reduced because my dad works there too. $2157 was about as cheap as I could get it to go
