Hiiiii I take the same contraceptive as you! So some of those asks aren’t 100% relevant to it, since it’s a bit different from other pills. We’re on a progestin-only pill, rather than one with a combination of hormones. It’s often called the “mini-pill”. The clearest difference is this pill does NOT have a placebo week. Take. Every. Pill. If you miss one use a condom for at least 2 days after.
My doc told me it’s sliiightly less effective at contraception than other pills, so maybe continue to use other protection. She and I decided it was best for me because I’d had bad moods on a combo pill and was mainly taking it for pain. It’s been fantastic for me, I hope it’s the same for you. I’d honestly prefer to use condoms forever rather than switch methods again, it’s been that much better than the last pill.
It’s not uncommon to have spotting on it, FYI. I don’t mind it since it’s working fine otherwise. You might have a different experience!
I recommend having a casual chat with your doc about this if they email (and are nice), or looking at reputable sites online (i.e., Mayo clinic, Planned Parenthood…). Def read the little pamphlet it comes with at least once! That’s a great habit. The mini-pill functions slightly differently from the combo pill, it’s interesting.
Thank you!!!
