Echoing what others have said: if you miss a day, condoms for 2 days after. My experiences with missing a dose include spotting for over a month, sudden onset of deciduous (sp?) casts (the entire lining of the uterus didn't fully breakdown and it comes out as a clump), and (one time) a fever.
Side effects I've experienced: weight gain
