Straight hydrogen peroxide can basically breakdown the healing your wound has done, and reset it. Its okay for right after a cut, but if any time has passed its not ideal. - source, I’m a pharmacist
  3. luzzzonix said: forgot to add, like other people have said, hydrogen peroxide not only kills only SOME bacteria, it can also kill your own cells. in fact, in some cases the froth is due to bacteria inactivating the hydrogen peroxide.
  4. luzzzonix said: PLEASE use alcohol (75 to 85%) and/or betadine, not hydrogen peroxide. if youre allergic to betadine, you can also use chlorhexidine wipes. apply neosporin (moisturizing and has antibiotics) once cleaned and bandage.

Obviously you don’t want to cut again but. if you do you don’t want to end up with an infection from a contaminated blade. Making the process deliberate can also help to break the cycle, in my own experience
  6. thebadluckmagnet said: Pour some alcohol on a washcloth or towel and clean up the cuts with that. Then wrap with a bandage or piece of cloth to keep stuff from getting in it
  7. iamnotataco said: Use rubbing alcohol, not peroxide. Peroxide will keep it from healing/defending from pathogens. Rubbing alcohol kills the pathogens without harming you. Then put neosporin or something similar to help prevent more infection as well as moisturize (bc the alcohol will dry it out)
  8. youarentreadingthis said: hydrogen peroxide prevents healing 😬 it kills healthy skin and immune cells too (and slows blood vessel formation)
  9. literalcanontrash said: If it’s a little frothy or watery it could be peroxide continuing to expel the pus from the wound. If fluids don’t stop flowing freely after 12 hours go to the emergency room
  10. cactusprisms said: Peroxide doesn’t really clean it out, it just breaks down blood and stuff. there’s probably still stuff in there which is usually what the pus is trying to push out. wash it with soap and water, then put either antibiotic ointment or isopropyl alcohol on, bandage.
