a sick bat flew up in my face/mouth when I was 16. They told me the number of shots you get post exposure depends on your body mass. They gave me 6 when I first came in (1 in each arm and 2 in each thigh), and then I had a couple more appointments over the next few weeks. Each of the follow-ups was only one shot each. Treatment was fully covered under Medicaid. However, the incident has haunted me, and all these years later, every new doctor I see still gasps at my file and says “you’re batface?” because the ER staff from that night immediately told everyone they knew because it was so funny. I think that story might outlive me, especially if I keep going outside at dusk and hanging out in a forest full of sick bats
