i feel like @cryptotheism posts about such a variety of topics despite technically being a more ‘niche’ blog that i think theyd be a great starter blog too!! they used to be @normal-horoscopes (you’ve probably seen screenshots of their viral posts under that name) but tumblr had a weird glitch a few months back that impacted popular blogs so they’ve switched over to the cryptotheism irl now, tho the original horoscope blog still exists as an archive of their old posts (as of me posting this)

if you search a tag on tumblr for a topic you’re interested in,

whether it’s broad (‘comics’, ‘fashion’, ‘horror movies’, ‘game of thrones’, ‘MCU’, ’[name of tv show] or commonly an abbreviation for longer media titles, i.e. IWTV for interview with the vampire, or even [media title/abbreviation] followed by ‘book’ or ‘movie’ or ‘tv’ or ‘comics’ or ‘release date year (common w movies that have equally famous/well known orginals and remakes)’ or ‘HBO’/‘Netflix’ (common if it’s a show released on a specific streaming service) if there’s more than one version under the same media title, etc etc.)

or specific (‘[insert ship name here]’, ‘[fandom name] fanart, ‘[specific ship/character]’ fanart, ‘[specific piece of media] gifs, ‘[ship name] au/fics’, etc etc)

tumblr will automatically show u all top posts for that tag ranked by ‘most popular’ and ‘of all time’ (which are settings u can change— u can filter for specific types of posts in the tag that have gifs, or text only, or have media embedded, etc. as well as changing it to list posts in chronological order by ‘latest’ instead of ‘of all time’)

but next to that there’s a tab that says ‘BLOGS’— that will show u the top blogs related to that tag specifically! i can’t speak to if it’s determined by number of times they’ve used that tag in posts or by the number of notes their posts w that tag gets or a mix of both— either way it’s a good place to start!!
