I am the rat lord do not test me
My new baby to keep Carl Sagan company. They’re already getting along great and having a blast playing together ❤️ Niels Bohr was born and raised in a pet shop, and is about 2 months old (Sagan is 10) and is a pet rat, where Sagan was a feeder. Surprisingly, Bohr doesn’t like yogis so much, but he loves sunflower seeds. His coat is absolutely gorgeous and he’s such a soft boy

I have two little guys! And get your baby a friend if he doesn’t have one already! Ratties are super social and do so much better with a little friendo with them ☺️. And good luck! Feeders/breeders can be a hassle but they’re worth the work!

Get a rabbit cage or something built for ferrets. “Rat” cages are way too small for rats. They need buddies, imo I liked raising boys better. They love hammocks. Bird toys are just as good as rat toys (ladders, ropes, cozies). They love attention and giving kisses!! And don’t burn candles/incense/smoke around your ratties, they have incredibly sensitive lungs. Get them low dust bedding or even better, cloth bedding, for this same reason. They’re so very smart too, so get them plenty of toys and re-arrange their cage every time you clean it to keep them stimulated. Look up the subreddit for rats, you could find lots of info there!

Excellent
I had my ratties out and my roommate and I got on the subject of what makes the alpha rat the alpha and I was like “idk. Age, size… size of testicles are all probably factors” and so naturally my roommate is like “dude I’m older, bigger, and have bigger testicles than both of them!” And I was like “yes Jared you would be the alpha rat I suppose” to which he responded by standing up off the couch, showing my rats his testicles, and whispering to them “I’m the alpha now”
