Good morning, my life is very loud at far too early in the morning

This is always my favorite sort of tag/comment on posts with crying bottle babies
i imagine getting my own place all the time and going down to the grocery store early in the morning before everyone else and to the coffee shop and having a really small place with wide windows and lots of plants and shelves of books and a tiny kitchen where i can make tea and noodles and a bed with a pile of blankets and just a place i can make uniquely my own or maybe a place i could share with someone but i just think about this place a lot idk
One of my professors is an extremely famous, well-known painter who has been in galleries since he was a young man in the 80s. He once asked me in class, “Alyssa, what are your dreams and aspirations for the future?”
You should have seen the puzzled look on his face when I described something similar to the post above.
“Why so humble?!” He laughed. “You know you’re talented, right? You could aspire to a lot more than that for sure.”
And I had to take that moment to explain to him that this is what my generation is given, this is how low our standards for happiness have to be. A humble existence, a small piece of the world for ourselves, and comfortable stability are just as out of reach for some of us as fame and reknown was for him in the 80’s. His face went somber immediately.
amazing, truly
Ok, but in Carrie’s book, she definitely mentions more than one occasion when Mark showed up unannounced at Harrison’s early in the morning when Carrie was just there and they were clearly not having a breakfast hang out and Mark was just like “hey guys let’s hang”, and also Mark followed their car while they were making out and honked at them and was like “oh hey wow, we’re all heading to the same place! let’s all go eat together!”
oblivious third wheel mark hamill is a legend
i’m mark hamill
The real victory here is knowing that Mark Hamill was good enough friends his co-stars to randomly show up at their houses uninvited to hang out and get food while simultaneously being too self absorbed to notice anything

@anakinsbutt this is your type of drama
Late last night, at like 11pm, Dogface was keeping me awake doing that quiet “boof” thing that dogs do when they’re upset. Everyone who has a dog knows that sound, right? I have to get up for work early in the morning and it was just loud enough to be annoying.
Anyway, I sit up and see that he’s sitting on
the bed by my feet, looking at the window, going “boof…” every ~30 seconds. I get up and stick my head out the window, and can faintly hear one of
my neighbors up the street screaming for help, just wailing over and over.
We go
outside, find which unit the sound is coming from, and get the police in
there. Soon, an ambulance came through and hauled someone away. No idea
what happened, but nobody else in the neighborhood seemed to be taking
any notice…
TL;DR: Dogface is a very good boy and might have saved someone’s life last night.
Since a lot of people have asked, the answer is:
Yes. Dogface got all the treats for this.

Then idk what it could be tbh
Circus Tree: Six individual sycamore trees were shaped, bent, and braided to form this.
Actually pretty easy. Trees don’t reject tissue from other trees in the same family. You bend the tree to another tree when it is a sapling, scrape off the bark on both trees where they touch, add some damp sphagnum moss around them to keep everything slightly moist and bind them together.
Then wait a few years- The trees will have grown together.
You can use a similar technique to graft a lemon branch or a lime branch or even both- onto an orange tree and have one tree that has all three fruits.
Frankentrees.
As a biologist I can clearly state that plants are fucking weird and you should probably be slightly afraid of them.
On that note! At the university (UBC) located in town, the Agriculture students were told by their teacher that a tree flipped upside down would die. So they took an excavator and flipped the tree upside down. And it’s still growing. But the branches are now the roots, and the roots are now these super gnarly looking branches. Be afraid.
I am both amazed and horrified of nature as we all should be
I love how trees are like “fuck it, I’ll deal” at literally everything. Forest fire? Cool, my seeds’ll finally grow. Upside down? Branches, suck, roots, leave. What’s this new branch? Eh, welcome to the tree buddy.
I need to be more like tree
I continue to fear and respect out arboreal overlords.
what kind of professor did these students have that they needed to prove him wrong so badly that they literally dug up a tree, flipped it and put it back in the ground?
Sounds like yโallโve never heard about the Tree of 40 Fruits. Well, itโs exactly as it sounds. Sam Van Aken, an artist based in New York, decided to try his hand at grafting (e.g. the process by which you attach the branches of a different tree to a host tree).
As artists are inclined to do he decided to push some limits and over the course of a few years he grafted over 40 different fruit onto the host โ including almond, apricot, cherry, nectarine, peach and plum varieties.โ
It has a fruiting period lasting from July to October and this is what it looks like when blossoming.

Shitโs tight yo.
Also we have a group called the Guerrilla Grafters. A group who started in San Fransisco with the goal of grafting fruiting branches onto non-fruiting trees of the same type.
Most cities have fruit trees that simply donโt produce fruit because having all these would be a mess and inadvertently providing unregulated food to people comes with a lot of legal risks I suppose. These grafters seem to think otherwise and have taken it upon themselves to try and bring fruit trees back to urban areas.
That’s still a lot of trees #EthicalMemes
Here is the link in case anyone wants to donate some trees!
They’re only about 1.2 million away, and a couple of weeks ago they were 4 million away. There’s a good chance that with a bit of noise made about this, they could rally for that home stretch. This would be a good time to tell your family, friends, co-workers about the project, as there are many people interested in donating to charities at this time of the year. Once you choose a donation amount, you can also select that it is a gift for someone else, if you’re interested in gift ideas.
If nothing else, please help pass on the news here!
The Most Beautiful Bonsai Trees Ever
Bonsai trees are awesome. Just ask Mr Miyagi. They look beautiful, they fit in your house, they encourage patience and dedication, they relieve stress, and they help to purify the air. What’s not to like?
People have been caring for Bonsai trees
for over a thousand years. The ancient horticultural practice
originated in China, where it was known as “penzai”, and was later
redeveloped under the influence of Japanese Zen Buddhism.

@hedgeh I would lose my shit if you mantained a wisteria Bonsai to that level….
Instructions for a walk in the woods
- Never turn around to check behind you. You’ll see nothing, but once you start doing it you won’t be able to stop, and an ominous feeling will follow you until you don’t lock your house’s door behind you.
- If you stand very still and listen you will hear the woods calling for you. Don’t answer. Never answer.
- You’ll hear things quietly following you, hidden in the trees by your sides. It’s okay, they’re just checking on you.
- Don’t be scared, but be really, really wary.
- If you have a bad feeling about taking a certain path, don’t. You’ll avoid whatever is waiting for you at the end of it.
- You never know what may be buried under the soil you’re walking on. Remember that every time you take a step. Pray that whatever it is, it won’t wake up.
- Be careful not to step on any beetle, or you’ll never get rid of them.
- If you bring a knife with you, name it. Otherwise the blade will turn against you as soon as you try to use it.
- Make sure you remember the way back home. As soon as you get lost, you’re just another piece of fresh meat.
what kind of nightvale shit is this?? i love it
