About the update
Like. Okay. The reply inline system they were using before has been used on forums and threads for DECADES. Ever since we first use the computer we see the reply system that tumblr used to have. Our eyes have been trained to read conversations on the internet like that. And then Tumblr applies this new system, of reading a convo the same way we read an article. It doesn’t work because we’re used to seeing a new line, a new indentation, as a new person talking. The new system is set up like an article, without much of a visual queue to indicate that a new person is speaking. That’s my main problem. It’s making everything so much more difficult to read, especially for people with trouble reading. It makes me wonder just what kind of site the staff thinks they’re running. This is not an article site. This is a chat site. Its a conversation site. This is a multiple narrative site. They’re going against how literally every other thread site on the internet goes. They’ve made a horrible move here, in my opinion.

wake up babe new sport just dropped
(I’ve got a few of these in my ask box so I’m just going to answer this one with all the information I have.)
Tumblr user pizza, along with 10-12 other popular blogs were terminated because apparently they were being paid to promote this weight loss pill scam, which is against tumblr’s terms and conditions.
Another thing, pizza has made some pretty racist comments and for a while had a “ni****fights” tag along with some other racist tags as well as some other problematic stuff (http://tsarbucks.tumblr.com/post/72150571279/pizza-awfullydistracted-pizza). So generally people are pretty happy she’s gone.
Update: pizza has another blog (I think its her) and its larrytattoos (as of 2015), where she confirms her deletion was because of the weight loss pill scam.
Hope this helped!
Okay I’m pretty sure this happened on tumblr, when tumblr first implemented the little color-changing ‘t’ in the top corner of desktop mode. Someone immediately started complaining that it was ‘ableist’ and ‘dangerous’ to epileptic people. Of course, a bunch of people called them out saying how the colors didn’t change fast enough to cause a seizure and whatnot, fast forward a few days, the person gets blasted like discourse does, and instead of apologizing, they pose as their sister saying that the ‘t’ colors sent them into a seizure and ultimately a coma.
At least, this was what I thought of. Might not be the specific one op is talking about.
“Might not be the specific one op is talking about.”
how many times has this happened
I thought this was about the Hitler kin user

Alright les go
First you need to install http://statcounter.com/ on your blog. You make an account, and they give you a chunk of code to put at the top of your blog. (The best part is that you can have multiple “projects” or blogs under on account, perfect for sideblogs).
To create the code, go to this screen, type in your tumblr url, and click “invisible tracking”. To go to the next page just press the enter key. On the next page, select the installer for tumblr, and they’ll guide you the rest of the way.
Now that you have installed a tracker, go to your project stats, and click the tab on the side that says “Recent Visitor Activity” You’ll see this page here, with all the people’s interactions on your blog. It only records 500 hits at a time.

Okay so now you have a place where you can access visitor’s IP addresses.
The next step is to get a code that allows you to block and re-direct people whose IPs you’ve blocked. Here it is:
<script type=“text/javascript” src=“http://l2.io/ip.js?var=userip”></script>
<script language=“Javascript”>
function preloadFunc()
{
var ip = userip;
var bannedips=[
“00.00.00.000”,
“00.00.00.000”,
]var handleips=bannedips.join(“|”)
handleips=new RegExp(handleips, “i”)if (ip.search(handleips)!=-1){
window.location.replace(“REDIRECT PAGE HERE”);
document.write(’<!–’);
}
}
window.onpaint = preloadFunc();
</script>
Replace the 00.00.00.000 with the IP’s you want to block, make sure they’re in quotes and are followed by a comma. You can add as many of them as you want.
Next is to create a page they redirect to. You can NOT redirect someone to an outside page, like a different tumblr account or another website. Say you want to redirect someone to “yoururl.tumblr.com/banned” all you have to put in the quotes is “banned” because the “yoururl.tumblr.com” is already implied. You will need to make a page for the people to be redirected to.
This code also puts the user that you’ve banned into a load-loop, meaning the page, while still visible to the person, is refreshing at a rate of about 2-3 times a second. It depends on the browser they’re using, but a lot of times this rapid data use will slow down the browser, and crash it.
So what you do when you wanna block an IP, say someone sends you a nasty message. You can block the anon through the message, but that doesn’t stop them from looking at your blog. So here’s what you do:
1. Go to your statcounter page and click on the “Popular Pages” tab on the side (its near the top)
2. scroll until you see “yoururl.tumblr.com/ask”

3. Click on the magnifier icon and it will show you visitors that have recently viewed this page.

Here’s where you need to do a little guess work. If you have the timestamp extension installed through xkit, all you need to do is line up the times.
Disclaimer: Visits, and messages as well, sent to you over the mobile app do not show up here.
So when you have the IP, all you do is copy and paste it into your HTML, and you’re done.
Now, on to the harder part, finding your school’s IP. You really can’t do this without going to your school and recording your IP address while you’re there. And some schools can have more than one IP, depending on size.
Another way to find your school’s IP is, if it’s a big school or university, it is sometimes online. I know MIT’s IPs are posted online. There are no services, that I know of, that do reverse IP lookups.
I hope this helped!
