Are you the excel wizard I follow? I’m trying to do a very specific thing but the internet has not quite given what I want to know.

kaijuno answered:

I used to be good at excel when I was in academia but I haven’t used it in years so I probably won’t be much help. But hey I’ve got a platform, ask your question anyway and maybe one of my followers can help

Ok. What I need is the arrow button that changes the value of the field by one. I have scores of data entry points that change by one or two at a time so I’m trying to avoid using both the mouse to navigate to the cell and then switching to the keyboard to change a 3 to a 4.

Google has given me a half dozen tutorials on making toggle switches or calculate the whole sheet buttons and the excel subreddit is full of reddit users. (It’s where excel nerds and reddit losers intersect and it’s an unbearable place.)

Thanks for spreading my question around. 🙂

There are a few ways to change the value of a cell without using the keyboard.

You could use Data Validation to create a drop down list of possible entries.

You could write a short VBA subroutine to change it programmatically.

You could use the built-in macro builder to have excel write the sign for you.

There might be an active-x type control that can increment/decrement the value of a cell (I'm not a familiar with these and not in front of a computer, at the moment to double-check).

I'd be happy to help you out and provide more detail/examples. The more I know about how you want it to function and be used, the more I can help narrow down the options.
