Hey! I'm sorry u experienced psychosis. I also have psychosis that's only triggered by certain things (incl meds). Sometimes I trigger it by mistake bc I am silly but now I know my psychosis well and will almost talk to it like "oh psychosis, you're trying to tell me that my cat has been replaced by a scary clone, that's kinda funny. I know you won't hang around forever so I'm gonna chill in bed and listen to soothing music until you go away [or another coping skill]." This has helped me avoid making things way worse when I become psychotic (e.g. doing more things that make me psychotic like not sleeping or eating so I become so out of it I can't use coping skills, or j engaging in unsafe behaviors). I used to go to the ER for mental health stuff like MONTHLY now I rarely go. Sorry for the unsolicited advice but I j hope you feel better soon and that you're able to get through any more episodes if they do happen. Sending good thoughts!!!
Thank u!!! Yeah mine was brought on accidentally by meds but I do have a family history of schizophrenia so like it COULD become a more common thing in the future. I had no idea it was happening because I’ve never experienced it before. I didn’t realize until I was on the phone with my bf and he stopped me and was like “nothing that you are saying is making any sense” and I was like “huh. That’s odd” and so he came over and babysat me until it got to the point were I couldn’t sleep and had to go to the ER. thankfully the bf has experience in the mental health field and knew what to do
But yeah I was having conversations with people that weren’t there and hallucinating groups of people coming into the apartment and I couldn’t recognize myself in the mirror and I just looked so awful. Eyes completely dilated and bloodshot and crazy ass bags under my eyes. No wonder I didn’t recognize myself
