I’ve had cats my entire life, but I never actually adopted one from a shelter. I lived across the street from a farm and barn cats would come over all the time and have their kittens. But the one cat I did get from the shelter, Mittens, is unlike any cat I’ve ever had. She’s so vocal. She’s so cuddly. She waits for me by they door when I go out. She’s so funny, she’ll meow when you ask her questions because she’s smart enough to know you’re talking to her. If you call her name she’ll come bounding in from across the apartment. She’s such a precious little baby. I know you usually say “this is the best cat I’ve ever had” to whatever cat you have at the time but she genuinely is the best cat I’ve ever had. She’s so special.
ALSO: the shelter tried to talk me out of getting this cat because she was “antisocial and doesn’t work with other animals” well she just happens to be the most social animal I’ve ever had save for my rats so idk what kind of home she came from but she’s happy here and that’s what matters. She’s always purring and cuddling. I’m glad she’s happy
And oh god do I show her she’s special (she’s so spoiled) she’s taken to eating these jerky-like treats but ONLY if I mash them up for her first because she is a princess
