Hi. My car recently had the motor blow out. It’s totaled and undriveable now. My boyfriend and I have been using that car for both of us, and now neither of us have a way to get around/to work/etc.
There’s a 2011 Chevy HHR that’s for sale at my local dealership and I would really like to buy it, but if I don’t make my goal, whatever money I do make will go towards some sort of A to B car.
I’m desperate for any sort of help or share, any sort of anything helps. Please and thank you.
I’m out of options and I don’t know what else to do.
I will name my new car after a randomly chosen donor yes really
So I’ve been getting a lot of advice to 1. Not get an HHR. I really only chose that because it was the cheapest car closest to me and 2. To get a 90s Toyota instead and I’ve been finding some $2k cars that still uh. Run at least.
they’ll run and shouldn’t require too much maintenance. It won’t have anything fancy like bluetooth (if that matters to you)
it is probably a good idea to check the vehicle’s history - you can use a VIN/license plate lookup website like vehiclehistory.com - to make sure that there hasn’t been any major damage. you can also check if it’s been serviced recently and what was done to the car
aside from that, basic maintenance goes a long way, like checking oil and coolant and the like.
i am in no way an expert on these kinds of things, this is just from my experience with used cars.
I’m fortunate enough to have been raised by mechanics so I know enough to not like… buy a ford.
