So I actually learned this in psychology, but they also teach you this during first aid training, you have to direct people by name specifically. You have to tell a certain person to call the cops. You have to tell a certain person to get a first aid kit. You have to point out to them to make sure they are the ones that know they have a task or else they just fucking stand there with their mouth wide open no idea what to do.
My mom, whose a nurse, was talking to me the other day, about how she had to run a code (patient actively dying). She had to tell people do this, do that, call this person, and the family that was there watching this happen thought mom was being bossy until she sat them down and was like “I have to tell these people what to do or else they won’t do it”
