re: your post about being loud and proud about surviving alcoholism (good job, by the way! you don't know me but i'm proud of you)- I also just think that the way society treats addiction as a taboo topic makes it really hard for people to talk about it. I grew up around alcoholics in a way that still affects my relationships with people, I have struggled with addiction myself and it took me four years of therapy to stop minimizing what I went through and genuinely talking about it with someone, because I genuinely believed that I wasn't supposed to talk about it. Be loud about addiction and sobriety: addicts and their families need it, despite what they may believe, it doesn't ruin your image, it shows your strength.
