Theres a person in the local Facebook group that's upset because her driving age daughter wont turn on the tracking device they installed in her phone, saying that they dont trust her.

And the comments are horrible like...the parent isnt being aggressive enough about it and she should turn it on for her, put one in her car, tell her she cant go anywhere until she turns it on, take away her car, etc.

.. yikes.

Meanwhile the tracking app they use is in a class action lawsuit for selling user data to third parties.

Maybe dont trust a snitch app to not be a snitch.

I know times are different now and that cities are dangerous, but I was always taught to tell my parents vaguely what my evening plans were and if my plans were going late I should call before 10pm to let them know.

I was in theater, I was on the news team, I was on yearbook. I hung out with a lot of misfits. Sometimes projects went late. Sometimes we wanted to hang out at the playground at 2am. My mom has the anxiety disorder, so I'd call.

I know people are scared that their kids will get trafficked. I'm not saying that it's not a problem. But instead of a tracking app that makes your kid feel like you dont trust them, maybe talk to them about safety.
