Listened to Fall Out Boys cover of we didn’t start the fire and it sucks it’s not even in chronological order like did they even TRY
I think that the trick with this specific song is that every generation needs to add their own verse(s) while copying the original song as closely as possible. A lyrical history lesson it were.
The theme of the song is basically an indictment of older generations blaming younger generations for crimes that came from the older generation or of people older still. And, since we are only human, we are going to be continually fucking up we really do need a song to chronicle just how much we've messed everything up. Can't go forward without knowing where we came from.
Yeah but listen. I’ve written a paper about this specific piece before so I’m very fucking passionate about this song ok lmao. The fact that they could not find a way, like Billy Joel did, to put it in chronological order is disgraceful. It’s lazy. They didn’t even try and it’s not a good cover. It’s like they just did it for the callback and it sucks ass.
Fall Out Boy is one of my fave bands but they took a shit on this one
